Inspiration alert!!!

October 1, 2007 at 7:55 pm (Heavenly 2 me)

Today I had my first customer visit for the new company I work for.
Little did I know I was going to meet someone else than the purchaser I’ve met in the passed…to my joy they just hired a polymer researcher from the TU in Delft who in the passed 7 years spent a lot of time researching Nanotechnology and is now involved in the fantastic project called Ecobinders!!! We had a great conversation about their objectives and the work they’ve done up till now. This was my best visit ever, what an inspiration to meet such smart people with a passion for these things. He gave me a sample plaque of the resin they’ve designed, I don’t think I ever been happier with a product I received from a customer. There it was…in my hands…the future…

Stupid maybe; but this to me was a sign…this really is heavenly 2 me

Cradle to cradle: opnieuw producten leren maken!

September 30, 2007 at 9:29 pm (Heavenly 2 me)

Let’s Cradle!!!

Sustainable Design…where to start

September 21, 2007 at 7:51 pm (Heavenly 2 me)

I’ve been posting information about sustainability and am trying to discover how I can make a difference. During my search I found the following website on sustainable design…10 guidelines for ecodesign which gives us a nice start! Unfortunately I’m not a designer so I can’t bring this to practise myself. I do talk to a lot of designers and hopefully I can make them as enthusiastic about ecodesign as I am…and maybe I can become involved in some nice projects in the (near) future. Very hopeful for me is guideline number 2; natural materials are not always better. I sell plastics and therefore know that plastics are not always as damaging to the environment as people think. I am still trying to find out when and how we can use plastic from a eco point of view. So if you have knowledge about this subject please post a reaction and help me in my search ;o).

(reacties in ‘t Nederlands zijn natuurlijk ook altijd welkom!)

sustainability and chemicals

September 12, 2007 at 8:31 pm (Heavenly 2 me)

To me the Chemical industry and Sustainability/Being green have always been two opposites who are hard to match…but fortunately I came to discover that opposites do attract when it comes to these subjects. I for one am someone who works in a Chemicals company and became interested in Sustainability and Green Chemistry. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of attending a Seminar of Michael Braungart who showed me that these opposites do attract and that “being green” is under the interest of huge Chemical producers. Today when I had a look on one of my most frequently visited websites I discovered that Akzo Nobel has been rated most Sustainable Chemical Company by the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI). Another confirmation for me that this really is a subject which is under the interest of the companies who are active in my industry. I am currently thinking about the difference I can make and how to implement being green and saving the environment in our day to day business, hopefully I can follow the great example Akzo Nobel makes!

Must see: Architects for a better world!!

September 11, 2007 at 7:22 pm (Heavenly 2 me)

An important person in my life recently triggered me into thinking about beeing green…I got very passionate about it ever since and try to read as much about it as possible. By searching the internet I discovered a lot of architects are trying to introduce sustainability into the world of architecture. I love the way these architects try to make a difference and care about the world and it’s inhabitants. The above mentioned movie will be released in november and if you are interested in architecture and care about saving our world you’ve got to see this movie!!!
